Following the Taliban’s takeover in Afghanistan, New Zealand’s long-awaited tour of Pakistan has become subject to certain security concerns, reports say.

An independent security consultant would visit Pakistan for a detailed assessment of the situation there, a New Zealand cricket official said.

Even if the tour went ahead, if any players decided not to tour for safety reasons they could withdraw without fear of repercussions, he was quoted as saying.
