The Delhi government has increased the rates for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for vehicles. The new charges are now ₹100 for two-wheelers, ₹150 for three-wheelers, and ₹200 for four-wheelers and larger vehicles. This price hike aims to strengthen efforts to reduce vehicular pollution in the city.
Vehicle owners in Delhi are reminded to ensure their vehicles comply with the updated PUC norms to avoid hefty fines. Non-compliance with PUC certification can result in fines up to ₹10,000 (India Today) (Hindustan Times).
The new charges are ₹100 for two-wheelers, ₹150 for three-wheelers, and ₹200 for four-wheelers and larger vehicles. These adjustments aim to bolster the city’s pollution control measures. To enforce compliance, Delhi has deployed over 100 specialized teams, including mobile units of bikers equipped with apps for real-time PUC verification using vehicle number plates. Vehicles without valid PUC certificates face fines up to ₹10,000. The enforcement strategy includes 18 units stationed at interstate borders, 16 teams monitoring Inter-State Bus Terminals from 4 pm to midnight, 44 teams patrolling ring roads in shifts, and 30 two-wheeler teams patrolling the city from 9 am to 6 pm. Additionally, six supervisory teams oversee these operations. In the first three weeks of October 2023 alone, authorities issued 3,922 challans for PUC violations, 6,640 for parking violations, and 246 for overloading.
The revised rates for Petrol, CNG, or LPG two and three-wheelers have been set at ₹80. The revised rates for Petrol, CNG, or LPG four-wheelers have been set at ₹110. For diesel-propelled vehicles, the pollution check rate has been set at ₹140.
