With the release of Windows 11, Microsoft is bringing Android mobile apps to the Microsoft Store. Microsoft will use the background technology of the Windows Subsystem for Linux and Windows 10 Project Astoria to enable Android apps to run traditionally within the new operating system.
The Microsoft Apps Store is not as popular as the Google Play Store and Apple Appstore, but it is slowly getting better. Windows 11 aims to improve the situation by enabling support for two key features: the uninstalled Win32 desktop applications, and traditional Android operating systems.
The company operates under its Android app and recently appeared in a Microsoft store. Before the public preview, the Amazon Appstore is now in the Microsoft Store and needs Windows 11 Build 22000 or newer, but the app store is currently not available for download.
Amazon is apparently running on its App Store app for Windows 11 and users will need to sign in with their Amazon account to download apps. Files will be downloaded via the Amazon AppStore only, and the Microsoft Store will be used to promote mobile applications to search results and nothing more.
Integration of Android apps on Windows 11
During the developer conference, Microsoft said it would build a traditional representative system that would manage the bridge between mobile and desktop models. This upgrade will make the app feel native and users will be able to install or uninstall mobile apps from Settings or Control Panel.
For those unfamiliar, Windows Subsystem for Android is based on the Windows Subsystem for Linux, which uses the Hyper-V and Linux kernel to run Linux applications on the desktop next to your Windows apps.
Microsoft will use “Intel Bridge Technology” to translate Arm code. In a statement, Microsoft confirmed that this feature would also be applicable to AMD and ARM CPUs.
However, Windows 11 integration for Android will not support the Google Play native system and Google Play services.
To make things easier for end-users, Microsoft is partnering with Amazon’s, using the App Store available on Fire OS devices with the Amazon logo.
You will be able to search for Amazon mobile applications directly from the Microsoft Store, which will download the results from the Amazon app catalog. To download your Android apps, you’ll need to click on “Get from Amazon App Store,” which will download and install Amazon AppStore.
Sure, you’ll be able to set aside APKs manually, but apps based on the Google Play Store may not work properly.
In addition to the store listing, Windows 11’s Windows subsystem has also been featured on Geekbench and other settings listed under the “Qualcomm ARMv8” hostname.
As you can see from the picture above, Microsoft has been testing the Android support system in a variety of ways, so the points are very different.
That’s all we know about Android apps on Windows 11 and we’ll learn more about when the feature is out.
