Yogi Adityanath: People ‘shamelessly’ supporting Taliban should be exposed; UP CM Yogi | India News

NEW DELHI: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday chastised all those who have been supporting Taliban since it took over Afghanistan in a lightening power sweep.
Speaking on the third day of the monsoon session of the UP assembly, Adityanath said all those who are “shamelessly supporting” the Taliban insurgents must be “exposed”.
“Some people are supporting the Taliban. What cruelty is being done to women and children there? But some people are shamelessly supporting the Taliban. All these faces should be exposed,” the chief minister said.
His remarks come in the backdrop of some All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) members and SP leaders coming out in open support of Taliban and heaping praises on the organisation
On Wednesday, Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Shafiqur Rahman Barq and two others were booked for “freedom struggle” comment on Taliban’s takeover.
Barq had earlier supported the regime change in Afghanistan and said that the Taliban is fighting for the freedom of their country and Afghan people want freedom under its leadership.
AIMPLB secretary Maulana Umrain Mahfuz Rahmani took to social media to call Taliban’s takeover an extraordinary success, a heavenly decision and a sign that wars are won with God’s help.
However, the board disassociated itself from the remarks and said it did not stand by the opinion of some of its members.
